At approximately 19:15 hours crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at 820 S. Long Street, East Spencer at the Dunbar School. As units were en route East Spencer PD arrived on scene and confirmed working fire. Salisbury Ladder 1 arrived on the scene and confirmed heavy fire showing on the A/B corner venting through the roof. Ladder 1 begin setting up on Division "B" for Aerial Operations. Union Engine 761 established a water supply to Ladder 1. Miller's Ferry Engine 343 & Ladder 64 arrived on the scene and begin setting up for aerial operation on Division "D". East Spencer Engine 473 established a water supply to Engine 343 who then supplied Ladder 64. MFFD Chief 640 arrived on the scene and established command of the incident. Command advised all units that this would be a defensive attack due to the structure being vacant and the amount of fire involvement. Command then requested a 2nd alarm response to the scene.

Once 2nd alarm units begin to arrive on the scene we put South Salisbury Ladder 74 on Division "D" to assist Miller's Ferry Ladder. Once multiple aerial devices begin flowing water we begin having water supply issues. Command then requested a 3rd alarm for additional Engines and tankers to assist with setting up water points, and water shuttle. Once multiple water points were established command requested a 5th alarm which would dispatch a tanker task force team. Fire was knock down in approximately 1 1/2 hours and crews remained in a overhaul mode. Multiple agencies still remain on the scene at this time for extensive overhaul.

Rowan County Rescue Squad provided rehab & medical monitoring for all personnel on scene along with Red Cross.
