SALISBURY, NC -
Emergency crews from several different agencies filled the parking lot at the Rushco on Long Ferry Road just off Interstate 85 on Tuesday night just after 9:00 pm to being a search for a possible downed plane.

Three callers reported seeing a low flying plane in an area northeast of the I-85, Long Ferry Road intersection.

Initially, nothing was found, but workers drew in resources to check the area, including the Highway Patrol helicopter.

"We are doing our due diligence," said Rowan County Emergency Services Director Frank Thomason. "Checking the area just to see if there is anything there."

The search was postponed at around 10:30 pm with nothing found.

Firefighters with the Miller's Ferry Volunteer Fire Department will check the area around High Rock Lake on Wednesday morning, and the Highway Patrol may fly over the area again by daylight.

Update:

NCSHP made multiple fly overs in the area the next day with no obvious conditions.
