I-85 Vehicle Fire

At approximately 14:00 hours crews were dispatched to assist Salisbury FD to a reported vehicle fire at the 76000 Block of I -85. Engine 343, Tanker 345 responded within minutes of the dispatch from Station 34. As Miller's Ferry units were getting ready to commit to the southbound lane of I-85 we noticed heavy smoke showing north of Exit 81. Engine 343 diverted north towards Davidson County & arrived 1st in on a single passenger vehicle with heavy fire in the engine compartment. Engine 343 pulled an 1 3/4 line for fire attack while Tanker 345 provided shielding and a water supply. A quick knock down was made & all mutual aid units responding were cancelled. Once SHP arrived on the scene we turned the incident over to them and all units cleared the scene.
