At approximately 13:00 hours Miller's Ferry along with Union FD, & Spencer FD were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 150 Jibsail Rd. After the dispatch communications advised they were recieving multiple calls, and we had an apparent working fire. Engine 643 responded with a 4 man crew within minutes of the initial dispatch. Engine 643 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire involvement from a single family dwelling. Multiple hand lines were put in place, but due to the location and limited water supply a master stream wouldn't last long. Crews were in a defensive mode due to the amount of fire involvement. Command was established and a 2nd alarm was requested for manpower and water. Engine 642 arrived on the scene and did a reverse lay to the intersection of Jibsail Rd. & Mainsail Rd. for better placement for drop tank operations. Union Engine 761 & Tanker 765 arrived on scene and assisted with fire attack and water supply. Spencer Engine 751 responded to Foresail Dr. to establish a water point for the tankers. At this time 2nd alarm crews were arriving on the scene and assisting with fire ground operations, and tanker shuttle. It took crews approximately 30 minutes to get the fire under control, but had a large amount of overhaul to complete. After the fire was knocked down command begin releasing units. Rowan County Fire Marshal Office arrived on the scene and begin investigating the scene. Miller's Ferry crews remained on the scene throughout the night on fire watch. The next morning crews swapped out and personnel assisted homeowners with the removal of personal items.
