At approximately 16:00 hours MFFD & SFD Personnel were dispatched to the 82000 Block of I-85 for a reported water rescue. The initial report indicated 5 kayakers swept down river due to flooding conditions. Rescue Co. 64 arrived on scene and confirmed that we had multiple kayakers unaccounted for. MFFD personnel established command and begin preparing rescue personnel to launch boats. Command diverted all rescue boats down stream to enter the water. MFFD & Salisbury FD deployed two rescue boats with six water rescue techs. Crews were able to locate and rescue three victims out of the water. Once all subjects were accounted for & safely removed out of the water a control time was issued. All patients were transferred to EMS.
